Second Harvest of Silicon Valley is one of the largest food banks in the nation, dedicated to alleviating hunger and promoting nutrition in the community. Serving over 450,000 individuals each month, Second Harvest provides food to those in need through its extensive network of partners and programs. With a focus on fresh produce and nutritious food, Second Harvest strives to address the root causes of hunger and promote health and well-being for vulnerable populations, including children, seniors, and low-income families in Silicon Valley.

As Social Media Manager at Second Harvest of Silicon Valley, I develop and execute comprehensive social media strategies to raise awareness about hunger and promote nutrition in the community. With expertise in content creation, storytelling, campaign management, and data analysis, I leverage multiple platforms to engage diverse audiences, drive donor support, and mobilize volunteers.

  • Exceeding Giving Tuesday goals, providing 8.6M+ meals

  • Achieving 11x ROAS through targeted volunteer recruitment ads

  • Collaborating with influencers and partners, including Taylor Swift, Golden State Warriors, San Francisco 49ers, and Reid Hoffman

By harnessing the power of storyelling and social media, I help amplify Second Harvest's mission to provide food and nutrition to over 450,000 individuals each month."

When Taylor Swift's Eras Tour kicked off, our marketing team caught wind of her generous donations to food banks across the nation. Recognizing an opportunity to make a meaningful impact in our community, we sprang into action.

Social Media Campaign: Engaging Fans and Raising Awareness

We swiftly launched a targeted social media campaign to:

  • Encourage Taylor Swift fans to tag us in their posts, fostering a sense of community and ownership.

  • Share impactful stories highlighting the need for food assistance in Silicon Valley.

  • Utilize relevant hashtags, tracking the conversation and joining the national dialogue.

By leveraging Instagram, Twitter, Facebook, and TikTok, we created a buzz around Second Harvest's mission, ensuring our organization remained top of mind during Taylor Swift's tour.

PR and Community Outreach

To amplify our efforts, we:

  • Partnered with local radio stations for exclusive interviews and live broadcasts.

  • Hosted giveaways and contests, incentivizing fans to share their Taylor Swift experiences and spread the word about hunger in Silicon Valley.

  • Crafted press releases and media alerts, securing coverage in local publications.

Taylor Swift took notice of our efforts and generously donated to Second Harvest of Silicon Valley. This gift helped provide vital support to our programs, nourishing over 500,000 individuals in need.

Key Takeaways

Our successful campaign demonstrated:

  • The power of agile marketing in responding to timely opportunities.

  • Effective community engagement through social media.

  • Strategic partnerships with local influencers and media outlets.

By leveraging the momentum of Taylor Swift's Eras Tour, we not only secured a significant donation but also raised awareness about hunger in Silicon Valley, inspiring a new wave of supporters to join our mission.

GROSSMAN LAW FIRM

About the Law Firm

California probate and trust litigation lawyer Scott Grossman founded The Grossman Law Firm to help sons, daughters, and other heirs who are being denied their rightful inheritance. The firm’s mission is to ensure that the wishes of your loved one are carried out. The law firm's dedicated staff strives to keep clients informed throughout the process while providing the best level of service possible.

My Experience Here

While interning at the Grossman Law Firm's Marketing Department, I developed and strengthened various skills that are vital for the modern-day marketer. Besides producing graphic assets, I also created and edited video content and written content to help our clients through the probate process.

I learned about the importance of analytics and assisted with the running of analytics reports across multiple platforms to track ROI. These programs included: Google Analytics, Web Greeter Dashboard, NOLO advertising Dashboard, and Infusion Soft CRM. Besides putting web analytics into practice, I also created Meta-Descriptions, focus keywords, and text improvements based on my analysis of SEO.

During my time at the Grossman Law Firm, I optimized 100+ blog posts and articles which in return, increased our ranking and number of leads. Furthermore, I wrote engaging articles for the monthly newsletter and created the e-newsletter design. Besides the marketing skills I learned here, I also had a great mentor who I taught me the importance of having a strong work ethic and being honest. I will forever treasure the experience I gained here and the friendships I made here too.
